Great job!

You've got some amazing tracks here! Your ideas and melodies are creative and catchy, which shows your compositional talent.

You could definately use some more recognization, so I'm going to 5 all of your tracks.

Keep up the great work!

Wow! :O Thank you! ^_^

I'm glad you like my music. :) If you have any music, I'll make sure to review and vote, too! :O

Thanks for the review! ^_^

Good job!

I loved it. It felt so alive, it was hard to explain. There were so many things going on at once, and yet it never sounded cluttered. That's quite difficult to do, but you do it masterfully.

You've improved quite a bit since you started here, which is certainly the direction you want to be going.

What sequencer and samples are you using? Keep up the good work!

Thanks man!

-I use Fruity Loops 6, Triangle II, multiple sound FX samples from teh interweb, and a sample or two donated by g-rave. Maybe another plugin, but I'm not sure.

-Thanks for the awesome comments! I'll keep ya posted on future songs!

Great Imagination

You've got a mind for composition, I can see that quite clearly in this piece. I loved everything about this, it never got boring. What you need now is some better sounds.

What are you using currently? Are you using a keyboard, or are you using a sequencer for your sounds?

Your music would really shine with some high quality samples. Keep up the great work!

MusicalOdyssey responds:

Thanks. I'm currently working with Chronamut to get better sounds. I will definately want them for my soundtrack pieces so i'm working as hard as I possibly can.

Thanks for the review.

Great job

Hey bud!

Thought I would check out your audio page again, it's been a while.

The most impressive thing about this is that it sounds like you were trying to imitate MilkManDan's style. I heard you in there, but I heard him too. It was actually a little creepy.

You've got great compositional talent, but (as I always encouraged) I would recommend you go out and get a little theory training if you haven't already. It would add a lot to your works. You have some clashing notes and melodies in here which could be avoided in the future if you were to learn about counterpoint and harmonies and all that fun stuff!

Nonetheless, this review is to one of the great artists of Newgrounds, and you certainly lived up to your reputation with this piece.

See you around!

MaestroSorrow responds:

Thank you David, you're words are truly moving to me, as I have a great respect to your music as well.

Indeed I do not know music theory, and I will learn the basics, but that is as far as I am willing to go. I have seen many of my friends who wanted to learn music, take courses, and though they got good, in the end, they all feel into the "cluster", which is my way of saying, they began to make things that everybody else made, nothing new or original. This is my biggest fear, and something I will avoid at all costs. Even if my music does not sound professional, it will sound like me, and not like the teacher in front of the class.

Thanks for your review again, keep up the good fight!

Not bad

My main complaint about this would be that you need to equalize your parts out better. I could barely hear the piano at the beginning.

I would try to add in some new parts. Little things like synth pads in the background, or little rhythmic motifs that occur in places help to help keep your stuff fresh.

This sounds like a great start, but it doesn't have that finished feel to it. Nonetheless, good work, and keep at it!

Dj-Fanta5t1c responds:

haha i would love to do all that, but as you know... i used garageband for this! i can put in 5 tracks possible at max, or my comp will freeze =( fl is at y dads and i have a song made but not exported =P so i was broed and made this!! haha thx for the review! ill look toadd some more pads and little things. im tryign really hard to work on that.

Improvement

You're no pro (yet), but you've improved a lot, and that's very commendable. At this rate you may be able to get into SIX1, if you're still aiming for that.

The piece was repetitious, unfortunately. I would suggest adding a melody into it. It's amazing what a simple melody can do to improve a piece.

Keep at it!

5/5

I'm going to give you some 5's down your audio page, hopefully you can get more recognition and reviews to help you improve.

Dj-Fanta5t1c responds:

thank you so much! wow your awesome man! thx! o and everyone might as well forget about six1 =P even if i do go pro, my stuff wont be there. the site is dead, and alot of brats are there =P. yes yes yes melody is what i need. i could not think of one tho =( so i just have a bassline. most of th songs i do in l right now will be basslines. ill look into melodys a lil later im still experimentsing wiht it ^_^ this is m best song ive ever did ^_^ haha yay thx for the 5's btw!

Not bad

You guys can play your instruments with some skill, which is (sadly) better than a lot of bands on Newgrounds.

I would strongly suggest you guys pool together 50 pounds and buy a better mic. You would sound much better if you did that.

I'm going to go ahaid and 5 all your stuff in hopes you get more feedback by people. Keep at it!

fungus1 responds:

hey thnx 4 the review and score!! We all don't currently have much income but were getting summer jobs now and we should be able to aford a better mic soon so expect some more music from us soon with vocals! thnx agen

Nicely done!

At the beginning I was growing a bit tired of the bells, I would shorten that a bit, or introduce something in a little sooner. It wasn't a big issue though, I didn't find it to get anoying, which is always a good thing.

I have a big soft spot for choirs, and when I heard them in hear the piece grew on me in an instant. The guitar was also masterfully played, the bends were great, and the whole part fit perfectly.

I'm a fan of bands like Sonata Arctica, Masterplan and Symphony X, so it's no surprise that I enjoyed this too!

Keep up the great work!

Love-Hate-War responds:

Yeh, i spose i did let the xylaphone section go on for a bit. Yeh i love choirs when mixed with big crunchy guitars. Everyone keeps talking about sonata arctica, i should check them out. Thanks for the review!!

Good job

The ending was astounding, musically. You need more instruments, and different parts.

You posses a lot of good qualities that could potentially set you up to be a film composer someday. How serious are you with music?

DrZonka responds:

I like music and I like to make music that sounds good to me and to others as well. I currently record off of Audacity with a Yamaha keyboard using a phono jack and a aux port. I hope to make better synced music as I grow to learn this program and use it more efficiently. In any case, thanks a lot for looking at my music and listening to it and giving me a new understanding of patience and moderation. "A Journey From Old to New" was probably put together a little to fast considering I put it together in 2 hours, so I will take my time now and hopefully make better music with the months to come- DrZ Thanks again David
