Would you buy my music on iTunes?

Posted by DavidOrr - February 11th, 2008

I've been lengthening a lot of my music (including the stuff from Sonny) with the goal to release it all on CD at some time. I've been thinking, though, that maybe releasing my music on iTunes would be a better idea. Here's why:

* Mastering, Producing, and Distributing a CD requires a huge amount of time, and require a large investment upfront before I started to see any return. I'd have to share a large portion of the revenue with CD distributing companies that I figure I'd have to sell at least 250 CD's before I'd even break even (that's each CD selling for $15 plus s&h)!
* A lot of people have iTunes accounts, and find it much more convienient to buy music off of iTunes rather than buy through an online retailer.
* It's cheaper for you, and I see more of the money. Even If the CD had 12 full length tracks (I'm guessing the number would be closer to 10), you'd end up paying at least $1.75 per track once you factor in shipping, whereas on iTunes you'd likely only pay $0.99.
* You can choose exactly what you want to buy, and not have to pay for anything you don't want to hear!

Ultimately, I think an iTunes album would make far more sense, but what do you think? Would you buy my music on iTunes?

On my website (www.davidorr.net) there's a poll where you can answer the question. I'd love it if you took a second to let me know!

Thanks! :)

I would totally buy this, I'm a biiiiiiiiiiig fan of your songs ;). Keep on making more! I'm sure one day you will get into music industry.

Thanks, I hope so!

hey i commented on ur site and uhm YES DUH i think everyone should get a chance

haha thanks!

Totally agree. iTunes is the way to go!

Glad you agree!

I would definitely buy your music from iTunes!
But what about the music on Newgrounds?

Well, that's all free for download, this would be completely new stuff!

meagghhh.... i cant buy anything form the internetz, i live in an under developed third world country without paypal service, and i dont have acces to credit card...

I'm trying to find a way to make my music accessible to as many people as possible, so if you know of any services that you would be able to purchase music from, let me know!

you know, i think putting it on itunes would be good cause then ppl can make thier own cds of whatever they like.

I would DEFINETLY but it on iTunes, Especially Dawn Of the Sunset. (Can't get enough of that song) Also Dancing with the Spirits/Aincients. You Rock!

Your newest fan,

-Sa'th

can't we just listen to it here? or are you going to make exclusives?

All of the stuff here I wouldn't put on intunes, since you can alreay download it here for free. The stuff on iTunes would be all new stuff.

Yes, I would.

Awesome!

I would.

thanks!

Well, I dislike the program (and Apple products in general), but I would be willing to make a personal sacrifice to get this music. It is well worth the trouble iTunes has caused me in the past.

awesome, thanks man!

yeah dude, you easily deserve it

Thanks Johnny!

I think it would be awesome to be able to buy this stuff on iTunes.
I would also like to know what program you use to create this stuff, because it's sounds a lot better then other music programs I've heard.

I use Cubase to sequence my music, and various sounds designed by East West. Thanks!

David, I would most definatly download your songs off of Itunes. I got a 15$ giftcard for Itunes, and I would certainly spend some of it on the music from Sonny.

Awesome man, I've already finished Heroic Confrontation, so you'll be able to find that in the stores!

I would get it from Rap. if you had it there aaaaaaaaand if i could buy it from there that's where i got most of my cd music since it's cheeper that way but yeah if i see it ill try to buy it

Awesome, thanks for the support!

If we buy it could we use it for something?
(Flash related)

It could be use for anything that's non-commercial!

now!

I'm going as fast as I can!

I'd buy it on iTunes if that was the only way to get it; I don't trust Apple. No qualms about buying your stuff, though, that'd be money well spent!

I know how you feel about Apple, I have a few issues with them myself. You'd be able to find my stuff in Napster, Amazon, and CDBaby, as well as other places.
