Ode to Rock 1

"Nice work"

submission: Ode to Rock 1

I'm not really that familiar with the game, is it all loops that you put together?

I don't think it's very bad, although if you use only loops it isn't very hard to put a song like this together. It had a good feel, everything worked. It would sound even better with some vocals.

Neat song!

5/5

Author's Response:

Lol NO! you don't only put loops together..you can make your own riffs and stuff!

Wine Bar Swing DEMO

"Great job"

date: August 3, 2006

I really enjoyed the atmosphere set by the piece. The quality was pretty good, although there was room for improvement. I think the mids could stand to be reduced a bit.

Very relaxing piece. Great job!

5/5

If you have the time, I'd love it if you would take a look at my stuff!

Author's Response:

Yeah man, i will check out your stuff no problem! And I love the feel to this piece as well, will work on the cymbals, I agree...actually..listening to it now. I will work on this for the Demo.
Thanks for review!

"Neat!"

date: August 3, 2006

As usual, great imagery. Also as usual, get better samples :).

I think the violin sound you have would sound better if you would go in and work on your phrasing. By adjusting the velocity of the notes to match the movement of the melody, you'll get a more convincing performance.

Your cymbal work is better, although you could still stand to cut back even more. A nice addition to your Saga of Eternal Souls series!

Keep up the good work!

Seems it gets better with each piece.Great! You made my night, mate!

Minuet of Ways

"Wow!"

submission: Minuet of Ways
date: August 3, 2006

Great job! You certianly aren't a beginning at the piano, which is great. This piece was well composed. I enjoyed the melody and the chordal progressions.

In terms of performance, it was pretty good. I think you could work on brining out the melody more and lowering the left hand parts. Also, a lot more expression could have been put into the piece. I see many places where fermatas and tempo fluccuation would have given the piece more life.

At any rate, very well done, I'd love to hear more music like this! I'm going to 5 all of your stuff, you've got great tracks here!

5/5

If you get the chance, I'd love to get your opinion on my music!

Author's Response:

i'll definitely practice my piano and see how i can improve my compositions. i'm glad you liked this! thanks and i'll check out your music.

SpK*) - Ambience Is Around Us

"Not bad"

date: August 3, 2006

This sounds like the start of a piece, not an enitre piece. It seems as though you set it up to loop. Nonetheless, it loops pretty well for an mp3 file, it seems you spent some time trying to get it to look properly.

I wasn't a fan of the drums you chose, perhaps they could have been a bit softer? I did like the chord progressions. An arpeggiator may have worked well in this if you had developed the piece further.

What sequencer and samples are you using? Keep up the good work!

I'll give you a 5 to try and keep it at the top long enough for you to get some more advice from people. If you have a chance, I'd love it if you would take a look at my tracks!

Author's Response:

well it was late when i made this, and i just chose the drums to make it sound more techno-y!

I didnt use a sequencer this time (:O) i used the trance pluck 2 in short synth, and set it up as multiple notes being played. or sumthing like it

sure ill checkout your stuff, and also, thx for the 5!

Highway To Bliss

"Nice work"

submission: Highway To Bliss
date: August 3, 2006

I wouldn't call this jazz so much as ambient, but that is a very minor detail. I love your style, a lot of your stuff has an ambient edge to it (if that even makes sense).

Some of your instrument choices weren't amazing, such as that odd synth in the middle that began to solo (although the electric piano after it was fitting). Also, I wasn't a fan of the snare rim hits (or wood block?) at the beginning and throughout the piece, they were a little distracting. Nonetheless, overall everything fit well and nothing really stood out like a sore thumb.

I also enjoyed your vocals, very soothing. It's nice to hear someone who has a matured voice, I can't stand it hearing 13 year-olds singing (or trying to death metal).

Nice music, and a nice website, too. I'm going to go and 5 all your stuff, you really deserve it. You're very underrated. Keep up the great work!!

Author's Response:

Wow, reviewed by Orr himself... just, wow.

Mature voice? But i'm only 15! :P

Thanks, i appreciate the effort :)

Roof Jumper

"Mysterious"

submission: Roof Jumper
date: August 3, 2006

The piece had a mysterious feel to it, I can't quite describe it. Great atmosphere, I loved all of the very quiet instruments, you had to really listen closely to hear the sophistication of the piece. One thing that I really liked was how the main melody was quieter than the rest of the parts, except it was audiable because of the quality of the sound.

The guitar dropped out and in an odd place, it was the biggest drawback to the piece. If you were to go and make revisions to the piece, I would advise you to keep the guitar part in longer.

The samples you are using are pretty decent, what sequencer and samples are you using?

Stratathereal

"Wow!"

submission: Stratathereal
date: August 3, 2006

Great piece! It had a very original sound to it, it was very refreshing. You have some of your insturments a little heavy on the reverb (or perhaps just the ambient pads were a bit loud), so it detracted from the impact of some of the hits, but that's a very easily fixable aspect of the piece.

You certainly have a knack for writing music! How long have you been composing, and what sequencer do you use?

Keep up the great work!

"Great mood"

date: August 2, 2006

The piece has a very solid atmosphere, nothing sounds out of place at all. The solo violin sounds very synthetic, unfortunately. If you have the extra money, go get Garritan Stradivari Solo Violin. The quality of it is astounding.

Very well written. Keep up the great work!

5/5

Author's Response:

or.. I'll just "acquire" it - sadly I used rason for this - so I'd have to rewire.. I was planning on resubmitting this neways tho - with vocals - so maybe I will replace the violin as well - the violin I could NOT get to sound convincing and it was very very frustrating to me - it sticks out like a sore thumb in my mind...

still thanks for the aweseme review mate!

"Klace..."

date: August 1, 2006

most of these are not your works. You cannot go to places like vgmusic.com and take a midi file and throw it into a sequencer and add instruments. I'm not going to be an ass and zero all your stuff here, but you shouldn't do this. Submit your own stuff instead.

Quite frankly, I'm surprised these haven't been flagged.

Author's Response:

Most of my earlier pieces aren't my Original Works, I'll admit to that, And I am definately gonna start submitting my own Classical stuff as soon as I can.
By the way your new song using Gold, If I'm correct, Is Amazing.
